Last weekend was a lost cause. Lots of rain and wind on Saturday, which meant it was no fun rowing out to the boat and staying on there. So I just checked her over and came off after an hour.
Sunday was a complete washout as the traffic was stacked off Portsea Island thanks to Portsmouth FC having a home game. Luckily Nicky gave me updates during the day and evening, so I didn't have to worry too much. Thanks for that Nicky.
There's another storm on its way with winds of 80mph predicted for the next couple of days. Certainly the sailing season is over for the time being.
Always happy whenSparrow's ashore at this time of year.... :o)
ReplyDeleteI don't have the option. Its too expensive to get Sprite lifted out and stored for the winter. I can understand the appeal of dry storage while a storm rages, but then you might get a crisp dry, sunny December day and the sailing bug kicks in again...
ReplyDelete80mph is storm force - hope everything is well battened down!
ReplyDeleteYes, as far as I can be sure, everything is secure. The mooring is all chain, no rope to chafe and I went round all the standing rigging before the winter to make sure that's ok. The jib is tightly furled to avoid flogging in the wind and the main has a cover which is also secured by ropes to stop it flogging in the wind as well.
